i think ive learned something bout strings..... when we started working on the latest cd recording i put all my parts down with the strings that were on my bass at the time...didnt sound bad or outta tune at the time. now that recording is almost finished , i dont like the sound of the strings i used then.luckily it was in tune and just the bass lines, but now that i hear it with the other insturments, i dont like the sound that i first got. so with new strings on my guitar ive been going back and recutting all the bass lines.
the difference in sound a clarity is amazing ..[well duh]
im still using the first set of cryogenically frozen bass strings , and i play um goaway and often but cant hear a sound difference yet, and the playback is clean and bright on the recordings... at least i heard it while i could still go back and recut the bass lines. ya know i didnt notice the strings values being tonally off center, when i recorded the tunes but i sure heard the difference with the other parts filled in! funny how the intune values change when the strings have been played to long or how it will be slightly off center when ya listen to the playback......just wondered if anyone else has had this happen ? i guess my lesson is quit being cheap ,and change strings more often.... or maybe pay more attention to the playback im not sure which....... but both sound like good advice

Heh, that's weird. Or maybe not, I don't record stuff so I wouldn't know actually . Have fun on the road and see ya later! _________________ 'The gift of death metal does not smile upon the good-looking.'
