If you don't already know it, start with the 1st blues position @ the top of the page. The blues scale is spelled 1-b3-4-b5-5-b7. Pay attention to the target notes, the circles. Where the circle falls on the neck, denotes the key your in. If the key was Bb, the circle would fall on the 6th fret, 6th string, if the key was G, the circle would fall on the 3rd fret, 6th string. Using scales and arpeggio's , are movable voicings. It is advised to have all the notes on the fretboard memorized to use target notes with efficientcy. This scale, has target notes on the 6th, 4th,and 1st strings. Most view it as the 6th or 1st string. It's easier. You can play this scale over a dominant blues (blues shuffle), or a minor blues. It does not include all the various techniques one would use to "spice it up, hot mama'. Shakin', rakin, bending, squeezing notes, and so forth. A lot of people are very ingenious as you know, and made huge careers out of this scale. But, they are very clever.

| Hey Kingfreeze can I suggest that you include the frets on the diagram, it would make it a little easier to play up the scale instead of counting the frets, sorry its a little difficult on my wifes lap top. This progression works really well with Stevie Ray Vaughns, Its Flooding Down in Texas. |
