... try setting gain on Marshall Amps to about 60-75%.
This often gives sweeter tone than using full distortion.
If you don't have active pickups try setting volume
knob to 2 (nice settings on Les Pauls) and play
nearly undistorted sweet tones over Marshalls
Gain channel
