Hi.
One trick I found to be usefull is Pinch Harmonics. This is pretty simple, basically you just hold your thumb or finger very close to the end of your pick so that when you pluck the string you lightly touch the string with the digit. This stops the main vibration and allows a secondary harmonic vibration to play, generally the octave of your note. This trick is used by a lot of top lead players, such as Billy Gibbons and Joe Satriani, and I think it adds a lot of extra texture to your playing.

There's a local player who somehow does this on an acoustic guitar!

I have only had luck doing it as described above with mondo distortion. Sad

Gary Richwrath (sic) of Reo Speedwagon used that to get "chirps." I didn't exactly know what he meant at the time, but through applications of my bad technique and some sloppy pickwork I discovered it!!! Laughing

Jeff Beck, I believe, was the first player to use the harmonic picking extensivly.
