|
|
Hi folks,
I'm looking for an alternative to a Marshall JCM 800.
I played through a JCM DSL 2000, liked it, but unfortunately
the combo version uses a completely other design and EL84
tubes.
The sound of the DSL 2000 with EL-34 is IMHO much better.
What features should my dream amp have:
- 15-50W
- Marshall sound from crunch to high gain distortion
- Full clear sound suitable for Jazz and Funk
- Combo if possible with 1x12"
- 2 or more channels with separate Tone controls
- Effect loop
And for homerecording one special demand...
When setting the amp into standby mode I still want
the pre-amp to be active to be able to make
recordings, by sending Effect Sent output through
a Multi Effect.
JCM 900 combos for example have this ability,
JCM 800 and Silver Jubilees for example not.
Does somebody know of such an animal ???
Best regards

The issue with the marshall pre-amp is that it seems
to be a fake ... JMP-1 was the name ...
It still runs if you plug out the tube ...
That I read from an Harmony-Central Review afterwards
after I bought one from eBay.
Then an A/B comparison showed, that the pre-amp
is missing a bit of low end punch if you play power
chords.
At the end I was more satisfied with my JCM 900 than with
this particular pre-amp and sold it via eBay. _________________ A goaway society is one where it is safe to be unpopular |
