Hammering on is done by slamming a fretting finger down into position after the picking (or plucking) hand starts the string vibrating.
Say, you play the open "A" string, then immediately clamp down on the second fret ("B") note without interupting the vibrations. The note just becomes the new note without striking with the plucking hand again.
With practice, you can even start the string vibration by slamming a finger down on the neck: no plucking required.
A "pull-off" starts on a fretted note, then you pluck the fretting finger off sideways, like plucking a bowstring.
You can hammer-on and pull-off and get a certain trill effect as long as you like (or until you get tired). |

i can play hysteria on my electric guitar, it's probably not exacty the same, but here some places i hammer and pull:
it goes something like this:
-----5---5-7-
0-0---0------ well i hammer the 7 on the 5, this thing is played alot, sometimes on A and D and sometimes on E and A, you can use it for both.
but here the most important part:
3-3-2-0-2 (this comas after the piece i wrote up there)
i play 3-3p2p0h2 (p=pull, h= hammer)
that's about it, i dunno if it's ment to be done like that, but it's a feeling, i played it like this from the first time. good luck with it! _________________ greetz gert |

yo
I understand you wan't learn hysteria, geldof
i think it's one of the greatest basslines I ever heard
well...
i always look for my tabs on mxtabs.com, it's a great site with drum , guitar and ofcours(most important ) basstabs
when you'll look find different tabs, i think it's like this :
A|-0-0-10-0-10h12-0-10-0-7-0-8-8-7-5-7
E|-0-0-10-0-10h12-0-15-0-12-0-15-15-12-15-17(or play 12 on A string like me)
D|-0-0-10-0-10h12-0-10-0-10p9-0-9p8-0-8
A|p7-0-10-0-10h12-0-10-0-7-0-8-8-7-5-7
I like this the most because it are different parts on one string, but also sometimes try other tabs like this one
D|-----5--5h7--5----
A|-0-0--0-----7--8-7-5
D|-------------5-5--5h7-----
A|----5---5h7--7-7---------
E|-00---0-----------------
G|----5--5h7---5p4---4p3---3p2-
D|-00-0-------0-----0-----0-----
making it much more difficult..., certainly at the speed he plays it...
any way you can chose( to me the first tabs sounds best). I just learned it out of my head first and then started slow, then faster and faster...
and eventually I can play it, and it's awesome
the rest of the song isn't that difficult, just look it up
greetz
